Simple Editing Tasks

Removing "red-eye" is a very small task, but makes a huge difference to the quality of a photograph. Another simple task is to remove a background which distracts the eye from the subject of the image.

Example 1

"Red-eye", caused by the camera's flash reflecting off the retina of the eye, gives a strange effect to a photograph (some might say "demonic", especially when the subject is wielding a hatchet...)

This effect is very easily fixed. The hatchet-wielding is a different matter altogether.

Example 2

Animals suffer from red-eye too. Or, in this case, "green-eye". Again, easily fixed.

Example 3

Studio portraits can look un-naturally posed, failing to capture the essence of the subject's personality. A simple snapshot can be converted into a portrait-like image with a little simple editing. In this example, the little girl was photographed in a very natural pose on board a train. By blurring the background and cropping the picture to frame her face, an effective portrait shot was created which is full of life.

Example 4

This photograph was to be included in a collage frame. As the picture was to be quite small, the couple was isolated by editing out the crowd of people in the background. The image was then sharpened a little, and cropped.
